As CEO at BookNook, Kristin Werk brings 20+ years of experience as a results-driven executive leading transformation, operational excellence, and innovation.  Kristin is responsible for setting the company’s vision and strategy, leading the organization, working across all departments to support day-to-day activities, and ensuring our products and services improve learning outcomes for students. Serving each customer and meeting them where they are is of the utmost importance overall in BookNook’s strategy. Kristin’s leadership philosophy is grounded in a commitment to fostering high-performing teams, empowering employees, and creating a culture of continuous improvement. 


Before joining BookNook, Kristin spent eight years in edtech at NWEA and Questar Assessment. Kristin served as Chief Operating Officer at State Solutions and then as Executive Vice President, Enterprise Operations, during her time at NWEA, where she focused on operational excellence to support organizational execution across the enterprise. While at Questar Assessment, Kristin also served as Chief Operating Officer and led over a dozen areas of the organization during her tenure.  She was accountable for creating and implementing scalable, quality processes that led to measurable results across all areas of the organization. Before her time in edtech, Kristin held diverse leadership positions for Thomson Reuters for over seventeen years, including acquisition integration, content and data migrations, sales operations, and strategic marketing and communications.


Kristin has a BS in journalism from St. Cloud State University and an MBA from Capella University. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®)®, Prosci® Certified Change Practitioner, Six Sigma Green Belt, Registered Scrum Master™, and Registered Product Owner™.
