BookNook’s Impact on Reading Achievement

End-of-Year Impact Report SY 2021-2022:

Since our inception in 2016, BookNook has believed that only through technology can rigorous programs truly scale and effectively address disparities in reading achievement. BookNook provides a unique solution to the early reading opportunity gap by pairing an online, synchronous instruction tool with a student-centered tutoring model.

The School Year 2021-2022 Impact Report provides an in-depth overview of BookNook’s impact among K-8 students participating in the program nationally between August 2021- June 2022. More specifically, the report details and synthesizes metrics on the following categories:

  • BookNook’s reach/scale
  • Student progress
  • Usage
  • Student engagement

To contextualize and add nuance to macro level trends, we have incorporated qualitative data (e.g., parent/educator/administrator feedback).

In addition, read about how BookNook partnered with the Consortium for Policy Research in Education (CPRE), based at Teachers College, Columbia University to assess the impact the BookNook program has had on students’ literacy development during the fall of 2020 at Prince George’s County Public Schools.
